Website terms of use

Last updated 2026-10-02

Terms governing access to and use of obscurasecurity.com.au. These do not govern engagements; those are covered by a separate Master Services Agreement and Statement of Work.

1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of the website at obscurasecurity.com.au (the “site”), operated by Obscura Security. Engagements (security assessments, advisory, retainers) are governed by a separate, signed Master Services Agreement (MSA) and Statement of Work (SOW). Nothing on this website constitutes an offer to enter an engagement on these website terms alone.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, server, or related infrastructure.
  • Interfere with or disrupt site availability for other users.
  • Scrape or harvest content beyond what is permitted by robots.txt.
  • Submit false or misleading information via our forms.

Routine, good-faith security research is welcome. If you find a security issue, please disclose it responsibly via [email protected].

3. No professional advice without engagement

Information on this site is general in nature and does not constitute professional cyber security, legal, or financial advice for your specific circumstances. Before relying on anything published here, you should engage Obscura, or a comparably qualified professional, to assess your environment.

4. Intellectual property

Site content (text, layout, code, graphics) is © Obscura Security unless otherwise marked. Frameworks and methodologies referenced on this site (ASD Essential Eight, OWASP, NIST, CVSS) remain the property of their respective owners.

You may quote short excerpts of site content for non-commercial commentary and review with attribution. Reproduction or republication beyond that requires written permission.

Where the site links to third-party content (for example, Australian Signals Directorate guidance or vendor documentation), Obscura does not control and is not responsible for that content.

6. No warranty

The site is provided “as is”. We make no warranty that it will be available, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, Obscura excludes all implied warranties.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Obscura’s total liability arising from your use of this site is limited to the resupply of information made available on it. Nothing in these terms excludes any non-excludable consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The “updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

10. Buying online

You can buy Monthly Scans or a Deep Scan online through our client portal. A summary of how that works (the signed service agreement in your portal is what governs the service):

  • Prices are shown in Australian dollars. We are not currently registered for GST, so no GST is added and the price shown is what you pay. You receive an invoice for every payment. If we register for GST, we will tell you at least 30 days before GST is added to a subscription.
  • Monthly Scans are billed monthly, in advance, with a minimum term of 4 monthly payments, because your first month includes a full deep scan. After the minimum term the plan continues month-to-month, and you can cancel at any time before your next billing date.
  • A Deep Scan is a single payment for a single deep scan of the sites and apps you list.
  • We test nothing until you sign your service agreement and your authorisation to test inside the portal. You must own, or be authorised by the owner to have tested, every site, app and connected service you list.
  • Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
